Through confessional interviews and too-hot-to-handle footage we were never meant to see, we follow George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, Thomas Jefferson, and the rest of the people you vaguely remember from fourth-grade history through their ambitions, rivalries, disasters, and personality disorders, from the conflict with Britain to the chaotic early years of the new nation.
